YESTERDAY, WHEN I WAS YOUNG

When I was young and out there trying to get mine…. I have no time for anyone. And the busier I got, trying to get busy with my own life, the less interested I became in thought of others.

Now that my life is much simpler; Now that the fear of being alone and of being “a nobody” in the eyes of the world have greatly dissipated; I welcome, even enjoy the opportunity to be of service to others. Do you see what was interfering with that?

•Title credited to song of same name and whose original title was “Hier Encore” (1964) by French writer Charles Aznavour. In the United States, best-known version, titled “Yesterday When I Was Young” sung by Roy Clark.
